Grinchmas Hat

New Hat Pattern: I'm Dreaming of a White Grinchmas

Gauge: 20 stitches and 26 rows over 4 inches on larger needles.
Supplies: #2 (circular or dpn) #5 (dpn) or size to obtain gauge. 1 10-inch piece of wire (around 20 gauge).

On #2 Needles, CO 104; join being careful not to twist.

Work in K2P2 Rib for 1.5 inches.

Change to #5 Needles and continue in stockinette until the hat measures 5 inches from the CO edge.

Begin Decreases:

Row 1: *K11, K2tog, *repeat to end.
Row 2 and all even rows: K all stitches.
Row 3: *K10, K2tog, *repeat to end.
Row 5: *K9, K2tog, *repeat to end.
Row 7: *K8, K2tog, *repeat to end.
Row 9: *K7, K2tog, *repeat to end.
Row 11: *K6, K2tog, *repeat to end.
Row 13: *K5, K2tog, *repeat to end.
Row 15: *K4, K2tog, *repeat to end.
Row 17: *K3, K2tog, *repeat to end.
Row 19: *K2, K2tog, *repeat to end.
Row 21: *K1, K2tog, *repeat to end.
Row 23: *K2tog, *repeat to end.
Row 25: *K2tog, *repeat to end. (There will be 4 stitches remaining.)

Move all stitches to one needle to set up for an i-cord.

Bend the ends of the wire into loops to prevent them from poking through. Hold the wire in the back of the knitting as you knit an i-cord. Knit the i-cord to the end of the wire. Bind off and weave in ends. Bend the i-cord into a curl.

Countdown

As it is just over seven months until Grinchmas, it is a bit too early to start an official countdown, so I'll do it quietly. :-) Since I have discovered that Kaufman has a new line of how the Grinch Stole Christmas fabric out this month, it has become increasingly difficult to not start planning for this year...oh so many pretty fabrics. So, in honor of starting early, I've been working on some cross stitch patterns. Here's the first of the holiday village houses.
